Why is a Vapouriser an essential product for your family?

Humidifier or Vapouriser?

Humidifier is the name in the USA for what is usually called a Vapouriser in New Zealand and Australia.

The Essentials in a Box Ultrasonic Vapouriser and Bloom Vapouriser are a cool mist vapouriser, not to be confused with warm mist or steam vapouriser.

Ultrasonic Vapourisers works on the vibration of the water creating ultra-fine particles at a speed of 2.4Mhz. This allows you to place essential oils in with the water to experience the therapeutic benefit of essential oils in their purest forms. Aromatherapy being one of the oldest natural therapies in the world is beneficial and used throughout the world in its’ purest form.

WHY SHOULD I USE A VAPOURISER?

The real question is why shouldn’t you? Vapourisers add essential moisture to indoor air, relieving congestion from the common cold and flu and soothing scratchy throats, dry skin and eyes, and irritated sinuses. Perfect for babies, adults, and everyone in between, a vapouisers additional moisture thins the mucus in the sinuses, making it easier to breathe.

WHICH IS BETTER: WARM MIST OR COOL MIST?

The major difference is that a Warm Mist Vapouriser is heating the water to produce steam vapor. Cool Mist Vapourisers use an Ultrasonic Nebulizer that vibrates at a very high frequency to produce an extra fine water mist. When it comes to humidifying a room, there is not much of a difference between the two types - both are equally effective.

However, pediatricians and parents alike recommend Cool Mist Humidifiers for babies and children because there is no heating element, which could be a safety risk for a child. Cool Mist Humidifiers can also save money on energy costs. Unlike other vapourisers, the Ultrasonic Vapouriser doesn't use litres of water and won't leave walls, ceiling and windows damp with condensation.

Essentials in a Box Ultrasonic Vapouriser has a maximum of 12 hours operation. The vapouriser will work for up to 8 hours on the continuous mode and up to 12 hours on the intermittent mode (every 30 seconds). The bloom is a little larger so can operate a little longer.

CAN I USE ESSENTIAL OILS WITH MY VAPOURISER?

It is the cool mist produced by the Vapourisers that is so effective at providing relief for dry coughs, nasal congestion, and croup. Pediatricians recommend cool mist to relieve cold and flu symptoms, sooth the throat and reduce swelling. Using oils is not essential for the vapouriser to be effective in relieving these symptoms however its certainly helps the process.

Much larger humidifiers use ultrasonic high frequency oscillation at a much lower speed which is the reason why they won’t diffuse pure essential oils. As far as congestion is concerned, the essential oils play a very big part in alleviating congestion or respiratory issues which is the reason we have chosen to stock the Essentials in a Box Vapouriser and the Bloom Ultrasonic Vapouriser.

We have a beautiful range of organic oils available on our website for the onset of colds and flu and these are the perfect accompaniment to the Ultrasonic Vapourisers. We recommend you using just water for babies under 3 months as their respiratory systems are still developing. You can purchase the vapourisers and oils here.

Humidifiers are one of the most common Baby Registry items.

WHY DOES MY BABY NEED ONE?

Newborns are Obligate Nasal Breathers, meaning that they can only breathe in through their nose for the first 4-6 months of their lives. Their nostrils are so small that even the tiniest clog can make everything from feeding to sleeping difficult and frustrating.

Perhaps more importantly, the American Academy of Pediatrics advises against using Over the Counter Cold Medication for children under the age of 6. For these reasons, pediatricians recommend using Cool Mist Humidifiers to relieve cold and flu symptoms in children.
